2011 CRICKET WORLD CUP: FACTS AND RECORDS



The 2011 ICC Cricket World Cup was the tenth Cricket World Cup. It hosted by India, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh. Pakistan lost its chance to co-host due to security concern. The World Cup took place between February 19 and 2nd April 2011, with the first match played on 19 February 2011 with co-hosts India and Bangladesh facing off at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur, Dhaka. The final match was  on 2 April 2011 between India and Sri Lanka at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai. The tournament was won by India who defeated Sri Lanka by 6 wickets in the final .India became the first nation to win a World Cup final on home soil

 Hat-trick 

 West Indies pace bowler Kemar Roach recorded the first hat-trick of the 2011 World Cup against the Netherlands .He removed Pieter Seelaar, Bernard Loots and Berend Westdijk.

Malinga fired back with the wickets of Tanmay Mishra (0), Peter Ongondo (0) and Shem Ngoche (0) with successive, full deliveries he became the first man to pick up two World Cup hat-tricks. In 2007: Lasith Malinga (Sri Lanka) made hat-trick v South Africa (Shaun Pollock, Andrew Hall, Jacques Kallis, Makhaya Ntini).
