PHYSICS
The 2011 Nobel Prize in Physics is awarded "for the discovery of the
accelerating expansion of the Universe through observations of distant supernovae"
to Saul Perlmutter (U.S) , Brian P. Schmidt (U.S and AUSTRALIAN citizen) and
Adam G. Riess (U.S).
The Nobel Prize in Physics is awarded by the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences.
CHEMISTRY
Daniel Shecchtman , an Israeli Scientist won 2011 Nobel Prize in chemistry
for discovering quasi-crystal, a material in which atoms were packed togethr
in well-defined pattern that never repeats.
The Nobel Committee for Chemistry is the Royal Swedish Academy of science.
MEDICINE
The 2011 Nobel Prize for medicine were awarded to three scientist for the
discovery of key secret in “ innate’ immunity.The award winners are Bruce Beutler
of the U.S, Jules Hoffmann of the Luxembourg ( naturilised French citizen) and
Ralph Steinmman of Canada ( based in the U.S).
The Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine is awarded by the Nobel Assembly
at Karolinska Institutet, Stockholm, Sweden.
LITERATURE
Tomas Trastromer ( Stockholm ) wins 2011 Nobel for Literature
"because, through his condensed, translucent images, he gives us fresh access to reality".. He has written more than 15 collections of poetry.
Nobel Prize for literature awarded by Swedish Academy.
PEACE.
The 2011 Nobel Prize for peace shared by three women "for their non-violent
struggle for the safety of women and for women’s rights to full participation
in peace-building work". .Those are Ellen Johnson from Liberia, Ley mah Gbowee
also from Liberia and Tawak kul kurman of Yemen.
The Nobel Peace Prize is awarded by the Norwegian Storting (Parliament of Norway), Oslo, Norway.
Economics
Thomas J. Sergent and Christopher A. Sims, both are Americans, were awarded
the Sveriges Riksbank (Sweden's central bank) Prize in Economic Sciences in
Memory of Alfred Nobel "for their empirical research on cause and effect in the macroeconomy".
