Western Ghats makes it to World Heritage List.
 The Western Ghats has made it to the coveted list of World Heritage Sites.it is one of the eight hottest hotspots of biological diversity in the world.
Rio de Janeiro and Bethlehem church awarded UNESCO World Heritage status.
UNESCO declares Rio de Janeiro(Brazil) and Bethlehem church (Palastine) as World Heritage Site.
Entrique Pena Nieto elected the New President of Mexico.
Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI) leader Enrique Pena Nieto was elected the new President of Mexico.He beat  leftist candidate Manual López Obrador of the Party of the Democratic Revolution (PRD).
Jagadish Shettar sworn in as Karnataka chief minister
Jagadish Shettar took oath as the 27th chief minister of Karnataka by replacing Sadananda Gowda.

The seventh G20 summit took place on 18 and19 June 2012 in the Mexican City Los Cabos.India’s prime minister Manmohan Singh attended the summit.

Second space mission for Sunita Williams.

 

Sunita Williams, the Indian-American astronaut, set off for her second spacemission on 15 July 2012 on a Russian Soyuz rocket  from Baikonur cosmodrome in Kazakhstan.Williams along with engineers --Japan's Akihiko Hoshide and Yury Malenchenko of Russia

Federer defeats Andy Murray to win his 7th career Wimbledon title.
Serena Williams won fifth Wimbledon women's singles title
She beat Agnieszka Radwanska of Poland.
Serena and Venus Williams won Wimbledon doubles championship
They beat Czech duo Andrea Hlavackova andLucie Hradecka 7-5, 6-4  in the doubles final.
This is their fifth dobles title.
Wimbledon 2012: Briton Jonathan Marray wins men's doubles
Marray and his Danish partner Freddie Nielsen won the men's doubles by defeating Robert Lindstedt(sweden) and Horia Tecau(Romania).
Paes-Vesnina end runners-up at Wimbledon mixed dobles 2012
American pair Mike Bryan and Lisa Raymond beat  Indo-Russian pair Leander Paes and Elena Vesnina .

Fukuoka Asian Culture Prize
Veteran environmental philosopher and activist Vandana Shiva has been selected by the Fukuoko city government in Japan for prestigious award “Fukuoka Asian Culture Prize”. Ms. Shiva is the seventh Indian to receive the award.
Magsayasy award 2012
India's Kulandei Francis is one of the six winners of the prestigious Ramon Magsaysay Award. Other winners of this year's award are Chen Shu-Chu from Taiwan, Romulo Davide from the Philippines, Syeda Rizwana Hasan from Bangladesh, Yang Saing Koma from Cambodia and Ambrosius Ruwindrijarto from Indonesia.
